About us
Asbestos Action is a Scottish charity that has been set up to assist sufferers of asbestos related diseases. We are a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation set up to provide practical support and advice to those who have an asbestos related disease. We want to ensure there is a local service, where ever you are in Scotland, to respond to any queries that a person diagnosed with an asbestos condition may have.
The charity was formed in 2002 by a small group of people who either have an asbestos related illness or have cared for someone with an asbestos linked condition.
In its first year, the charity dealt with around 40 referrals. Now we are contacted by well over 200 people each year who have been diagnosed with a debilitating or terminal asbestos condition covering from Buckie to the Borders and beyond.
With a small staff of four the charity punches well above its weight in providing emotional and practical support to victims of asbestos.
How We Can Help You
At a difficult time in people’s lives when a life changing diagnosis has been received, Asbestos Action is here to help.
We understand that it is difficult to absorb all the medical information you are given and we are here to offer emotional support and advice.
There are various routes that can be taken to provide financial stability but these are often complicated and overwhelming. Asbestos Action removes this worry.
Anyone diagnosed with Mesothelioma or Asbestos related lung cancer, will receive emotional and practical one to one support in their own home, wherever they are Scotland. If you’re not sure, do not hesitate to call us.
